These are the major features of the Digital Home Server (DHS)
Graphically stunning

The purpose of DHS is to be a home server, so it should look nice in your house. Full transparancy is used for graphics, which makes it look very cool. Just see for yourself on the different screen shots you will find on this site.
True multi-monitor.
The DHS desktop is opened on each monitor connected to your PC. If you have multiple monitors in your house DHS can use them all, and all functions can be controlled from each monitor.

Besides that, DHS will fit any monitor. From 7” up to 24” or more, it doesn’t matter. The screen layout will be adapted so that everything remains usable.
Touch screen friendly

The DHS interface is especially designed for touch screens. Big buttons, scrolling playlists like iphone/ipad apps, popup keyboards, ...
Applications

DHS is actually a framework, with a number of applications. New applications are in development and will be released. See Contribute on how you can help as a user or developer.

There are three types of applications. Widgets are little applications that you can drop, move and resize on the DHS desktop. Modules are full screen applications. And system modules are invisible applications that perform background processing (e.g. web or email server).
Easily customizable

You decide for yourself which applications to load, which allows DHS to run on very small Atom based PCs with a small 7” monitor. DHS can work with or without Internet (note that some applications require Internet). DHS is even suitable as Car-PC application.
Simplicity

Every operation in DHS takes only a few mouse clicks (or touches, if you have a touchscreen). Complex operations are done via the web interface, which means you can manage DHS from any PC or laptop in the house.
Auto Update

Updates and bug fixes are downloaded automatically. So no need to check for updates, and to execute update programs. Everything is done automatically.
DHS is free software

DHS is free software. No hidden costs, no nag screen, no expiration, no ads, ... How is this possible ? Well, DHS is actually a hobby. Read the history if you would like to know where it all started. But the DHS creator could use some help, so do check the Contribute page.

Note that DHS can not be used for commercial purposes !!
The Vision behind the Digital Home Server
If you wonder where this all will lead to I invite you to read my blog article “The visioin behind the Digital Home Server” where I explain where I would like to go to with my application.
